McCombe makes his first appearance in the reserves since returning from injury, while Nicky Maynard will play up front as he continues to search for form having only scored twice since joining from Crewe Alexandra in the summer.
Chris Weale, Andy Webster, Lee Trundle and John Akinde will also start for City who's reserve game kicks off at 2pm this afternoon.
