McCombe 'ready if called on'

CENTRAL defender Jamie McCombe says he is a relieved man after returning to action during a reserve team match on Tuesday.

With his team back in action this weekend after the international break, the centre back admits that the seven week layoff he has endured has left him 'itching' to get back on the pitch.

McCombe played in City's second string victory over Sailsbury on Tuesday, his second full ninety minutes since suffering a fractured cheekbone in August.

City look to get back to winning ways against Norwich on Saturday and although he is hoping to be involved, McCombe refuses to demand that he is immediately restored to the first team insisting that there is plenty of competition for a place in the first team.

He told the Bristol Evening Post,

"Of course I'm hoping to play on Saturday. That's what I'm in football for and I'd love to be involved."
