SCOTTISH forward Michael McIndoe has received the support of his manager today despite a penalty miss against Southampton on Saturday.

The Scotsman who has scored twice already this season tried to make it three at the St Mary's stadium on but was wide of the mark with his effort. McIndoe looked like a player struggling for confidence from them on but the weight was eased from his shoulders when Lee Johnson struck in the second half to give the Robins a vital 1-0 away win.

Johnson backed his forward despite his miss praising McIndoe's bravery,

"Penalty takers are brave enough to step up," he told the BBC,

"Sometimes they score, sometimes they miss."

The City manager refused to comment on whether McIndoe will continue to take the West Country sides penalties but said he 'doubted if the miss would affect the players confidence."

The win at St Mary's put Bristol City in 10th.
