BIG-MATCH FACTS

MIDDLESBROUGH face lower ranked opposition in a replay on home territory for the second successive round and will be looking for a smoother passage this time around. In the third round, Championship strugglers Hull were the visitors to the Riverside, and came back from 3-0 down to lose 4-3, courtesy of Mark Viduka's second goal of the game.

Gareth Southgate's side lost for the first time in 2007 on Saturday. Premiership champions Chelsea brought an end to their eight-match unbeaten streak with a 3-0 win at Stamford Bridge. They lie 37 places above their League One opponents, and are looking for a seventh home game without loss, having scored 13 goals in the last four. They've not been beaten on home soil since Manchester United's 1-2 triumph on 2 December.

The north east club graced the FA Cup final for the one and only time a decade ago. They were beaten 2-0 by Chelsea to the quickest goal in a Wembley final from Robert Di Matteo after 43 seconds. The Teessiders' best since then has been two semi-final appearances in five years, the most recent being last season. They've not been dismissed by lower division opposition since Wrexham, of the third tier, knocked them out 2-1 in a third round tie at the Racecourse Ground on 11 December 1999.

BRISTOL CITY staged a remarkable comeback in the original tie at Ashton Gate. The Robins were two goals down to Yakubu and Malcolm Christie at the break, but goals from Scott Murray and Richard Keogh in a five-minute second half spell earned Gary Johnson's side this trip to Teesside.

The west country club qualified for the fourth round for the first time since 2000-01, when they went on to reach the last 16 for the only occasion in the last 12 seasons. Both City and Middlesbrough were second tier clubs when they were drawn together in the FA Cup for the only previous occurrence 39 years ago. City, who had knocked out Bristol Rovers in the third round that year, drew the fourth round tie 1-1 at Ayresome Park and won the replay 2-1 on 20 February 1968 with goals from Jack Connor and John Galley. They then lost to Leeds in the fifth round.

City are hoping to do to the Teessiders what they did to Liverpool in 1994. They drew 1-1 with the Premiership club at Ashton Gate in the restaging of a third round tie, after the original match was abandoned in the 65th minute due to a floodlight failure, with the score also at 1-1. The replay at Anfield on 25 January 1994, saw City winning 1-0 through a Brian Tinnion goal. It was the last time the Robins eliminated top flight opposition.
