Mixed emotions for Williams

ALTHOUGH Gary Johnson described the game against Cardiff tomorrow as 'meaning a little bit more to people", the statement is certainly more true for one player than the rest.

City's summer signing from Ipswich Town, Gavin Williams has admitted that he has split loyalties before tomorrows game as he grew up supporting his new club's opposition.

Williams said he is 'preparing himself for the worst' when he returns to Ninian Park as his alegencies to Cardiff are well known and he grew up as a football-mad teenager watching the Blues play all their home games.

The 28-year-old says he will ditch his feelings for the Bluebirds for 90 minutes tomorrow and although footballers usually get plenty of stick from the opposition crowd he is expecting a bit extra - as his friends will be in the crowd watching.

He told the Bristol Evening Post: "Most of my mates are Cardiff fans and they'll all be there on Saturday hoping Bristol City lose and that I have a stinker!"
