Palace Match Postponed

The match at Selhurst Park, scheduled for this Saturday, was postponed at 6.30pm on Friday evening because of concerns over certain areas of the playing surface.

A statement on the official Palace website read: "Match referee Kevin Wright made the decision, in conjunction with the club, after visiting the stadium on Friday evening. The majority of the surface was playable but other areas gave cause for concern.

"The main concern was for the travelling support of both sides arriving on the day and due to the predicted temperatures during the afternoon the game not being able to finish.

"A decision could have been withheld until the day of the match but it was considered by all present at the inspection that it was beneficial to make the call this evening.

"The club made extensive efforts to get the match on despite the frozen temperatures this week in the south east with additional heaters and covers being installed.

"The decision was taken as late as possible to still allow maximum time for the pitch to be fully playable but the paramount importance at all times being the concerns of all those that were planning to travel to the match."
