Scott Murray was delighted that chairman Steve Lansdown kept his promise of a new deal. Murray missed the end of the season with a broken foot but he's been given a thumb's up from the doctors and the new contract is signed.

"I am absolutely delighted with the new deal," said Murray, "as halfway through last season I was worried I could be heading into non-league football for 2007/08.

"Luckily enough, I hit form in the middle part of the season before my injury, and it is great to be here for at least another season."

Alex Russell is also a happy chappy. The 34 year old midfielder played 38 times last season triggereing a clause in his contract to get an automatic extension of another year. His current deal was due to expire this week.

He told the club's official website: "I have signed and I am delighted to get everything sorted out.

"I have let my agent deal with everything but the deal is everything I expected and now I am really looking forward to playing in the Championship."
