City were leading 2-1 at The City Ground before the Scotland international left back was dismissed for a second bookable offence just eight minutes from the end of what turned into a 3-2 defeat to Billy Davies' side.

"The end to the match has typified our season - we've gone from a winning position to a losing position," Johnson said after the match.

"Mistakes have cost us, there was three mistakes at the end, two from our players and one from the referee.

"The turning point was Jamie McAllister's sending off but we should have defended the free-kick."
