Striker Sodje and winger Esajas arrived from Port Vale and Vitesse Arnhem respectively to boost the Owls, who have lost all three of their Championship matches so far.

Steve Watson could also return to the starting line-up at Hillsborough after missing the defeat at Charlton last week and the midweek Carling Cup win over Hartlepool due to a stomach muscle injury.

Winger Wade Small (hamstring) and striker Leon Clarke (ill) are also back in contention, but Francis Jeffers remains sidelined due to the calf injury that has kept him out of the last two matches.

Goalkeeper Lee Grant is expected to return in place of Rob Burch.

Darren Byfield is available to make his debut for City.

Byfield signed a one-year deal with the Robins this week in a £250,000 switch from League One club Millwall and he goes straight into Gary Johnson's squad.

Winger Ivan Sproule is in contention for a starting place after making his first appearance for the club following suspension against Manchester City in the Carling Cup.

The former Hibernian player had to miss City's opening four games of the season following his disciplinary problems with the Scottish Premier League side last season.

Richard Keogh has joined Huddersfield on a month's loan while fellow defender David Partridge is no longer with the club after having his contract terminated by mutual consent.
