Sproule determined to make 'long-impact'

CITY winger Ivan Sproule hopes performances like Saturday's against Doncaster remind his international manager Nigel Worthington that he is still a quality player.

Sproule fell out of favour during Northern Ireland's qualification programme for Euro 2008 but has insisted he 'hasn't gone anywhere' and hopes that his international manager once again recognises his abilities.

The winger was an integral part of Saturday's win against Doncaster and has battled his way back from a shoulder injury which kept him out for much of the pre-season program.

Back in action the Robins player is looking for a first team place at club level before he tries to battle his way back into the international fold. After his scoring return he told the Belfast Telegraph: "It's disappointing not to be in the squad just now but I have not given up hope.

"I still believe I have something to offer. I've been on standby for the last two games but I'm dying to be involved again."
