HE may have only scored two goals so far this season but Nicky Maynard hopes he can make an impression by scoring against Wolves on Saturday.

The City forward recently thanked the supporters for their backing and says he plans to reward their treatment of him with more goals.

Maynard has so far struck against Derby and Doncaster, but did score a pre-season hat trick on his debut against Royal Antwerp. The former Crewe striker, who arrived at Bristol City for a fee of £2.25m has talked up his chances of getting a result against unbeaten Wolves at Molyneux despite their formidable performances so far.

The 21-year-old told the official website: "They're flying at the moment."

"I don't think they are miles ahead of us, even though the distance is seven points in the league.

"If we can get the win against Wolves then it will close the gap up and push us further up the league."
