City failed to capitalise despite the visitors having to play for the last half hour of the game with just ten men.
"After they went down to 10 men it was only a question of whether we could take one of our many chances," Tinnion told the clubs official website.
"As it turned out, we couldn't and the players concerned have been apologising for that in the dressing room."
