Sturrock praises City fightback

SOUNDING slightly disappointed that his side gave away a 2-0 lead to their hosts Bristol City, Paul Sturrock accepted that in the second half his side had been 'totally outplayed'.

Plymouth travelled to Ashton Gate full of confidence having won their first home game of the season and with a 2-1 victory from last season fresh in their minds.

The psychological edge must have worked as despite Gary Johnson asking his team to make a fast start against their visitors it was a Rory Fallen goal in the first half which tipped the game in Plymouth's favour.

Despite the lead being doubled a goal from John Akinde and a late effort from David Noble left the Pilgrims hanging on and thankful to come out of the game with a point,

"We got battered in the second half," Sturrock told BBC Radio Devon,

"We were 2-0 up and I just hope and pray that they don't subconsciously take that as a defeat."

Sturrock said he was 'pleased' with his sides performance but admitted that he was happy to come away from the game with something,

"You can take nothing away from Bristol City in the second half, they were very positive in their approach and really dictated where we were going to defend.

"I thought they were exceptional in the second half,"
