Huddersfield Town have signed Bristol City centre-back Jamie McCombe for an undisclosed fee on a three-year deal.McCombe, 27, is manager Lee Clark's second signing in as many days, following the arrival of Lee Croft from Derby County on a six-month loan.
Clark told the club website: "He is one that's been on my radar for a long time. He will be a massive asset.
"Jamie will give us a physical presence and he's very good in both penalty areas but can also play with the ball."
McCombe, who was born in West Yorkshire, began his career as a trainee at Scunthorpe before spells at Halifax and Lincoln City.
He moved to Bristol City in May 2006 and was part of their League One promotion winning side.

Clark added: "His signing is a coup for the club and goes in line with the other most recent signings we have made.
"The players we have brought from the higher leagues have not been on the periphery of their teams - they have been regular fixtures in their teams when they have been fit."
McCombe, whose brother John played for Huddersfield, said: "I wouldn't be coming to Huddersfield if I didn't think they would make it to the Championship soon - it's not a quick move nearer to home for me.
"I've moved to a club with the potential to get back to where I want to be.
"Obviously I'm originally from up here and I know all about Huddersfield - it's a great club with big potential and aspirations. I think this club will go onto bigger and better things."
McCombe missed the latter part of last season with a knee injury, but has fully recovered and will join up with his new team-mates for pre-season training.
