Transfer Window Special

12:00PM last night marked the close of the transfer window, with club's not able to do anymore permanent business in the transfer market until January 1st.


Many Championship transfers were most likely overshadowed by the crazy goings on in Manchester which saw football's rich yet richer so here's a brief look at what happened incase you missed anything.

BARNSLEY
The Tykes main move was to sign Argentine midfielder Hugo Roberto Colace from Newell's Old Boy's. The player has been training with the Yorkshire club since July.

BIRMINGHAM CITY
Championship favourites Brum made no moves on the final day and also managed to keep hold of James McFadden and Sebastian Larsson who had been linked with a return to the Premiership.

BLACKPOOL
The Seesiders did their main business North of the border signing midfielder Alan Gow on a loan deal until Januard.

BRISTOL CITY
City's main signing was John Akinde who joined the club from Ebbsfleet United in a deal believed to be worth around £140,000. The club also agreed an extension to the loan deal of James Wilson who will stay with League Two Brentford for a further three months.

BURNLEY
Struggling Burnley signed Cardiff striker Steve Thompson who was available on a free transfer.

CARDIFF CITY
City's next opponents allowed Stephen Thompson to join Burnley whilst refusing Joe Ledley the oppetunity to discuss a transfer to Stoke City even though a £6m bid was on the table.

CHARLTON ATHLETIC
The Londoners moved late in the day to seal a loan deal with Portsmouth for Martin Craine.

COVENTRY CITY
City didn't bring any players in during the final few hours of the transfer window but they did allow winger Julian Gray to join Fulham on a one-year loan deal.

CRYSTAL PALACE
Neil Warnock did his transfer business on Friday signing Ipswich striker Alan Lee and the only movement yesteday saw Dougie Freedman join League One Southend on a free transfer.

DERBY COUNTY
Despite their struggled so far this term, County didn't bring any players in before the transfer deadline though Tyrone Mears was allowed to join Marseille on loan after a sucessful trial.

DONCASTER ROVERS
Rovers Irish manager Sean O'Driscoll has been delighted with the side his start have made to life in the Championship and chose not to strengthen his squad before midnight.

IPSWICH TOWN
The Tractor Boys swapped a striker for a striker, selling Alan Lee to Sheffield United and bringing in Sheffield United striker Jon Stead on a loan deal until January.

NORWICH CITY
The Canaries sealed a deal to sign Antoine Sibierski on a loan deal until Janury and allowed defender Jason Shackell to join Wolves. The clubs also brought in Middlesbrough youngster Johnathan Grounds on a three month loan deal.

NOTTINGHAM FOREST
Forest decided to add no further players to their squad after sustaining themselves in the Championship.

PLYMOUTH ARGYLE
Plymouth manager Paul Sturrock signed Emile Mpenza who was available on a free transfer and also added midfielder Nicolas Marin in a loan deal from Lorient.

PRESTON NORTH END
Preston, much improved this season, signed John Parkin from Stoke on a permenant spell after a sucessful loan spell. The second placed side also signed Stephen Elliott from Wolves.

QPR
QPR did no further business in the transfer window.

READING
The Royals kept hold of Stephen Hunt despite a bid from Everton but recieved no offers for James Harper or Kevin Doyle meaning their team will stay relatively unchanged.

SHEFFIELD UNITED
Kevin Blackwell decided not to bring any players into the club as United push for promotion but let Jon Stead leave on a loan deal to Ipswich and Michael Tonge joined Stoke for a fee of around £2.5m.

SHEFFIELD WEDNESDAY
Wednesday chose not to add to their squad.

SOUTHAMPTON
The Saint's young squad was added to by the signing of Romain Gadmi who joined on a season long loan from French side Strasbourg.

SWANSEA CITY
The Swans also kept their chequebooks in their pockets and made no further signings.

WATFORD
Aidy Boothroyd did no further business.

WOLVES
Championship leaders Wolves strengthened their squad by signing defender Jason Shackell from Norwich, George Friend from Exter and also Matt Hill who moved in a swap with striker Stephen Elliott.
