Us extend Williams deal

Colchester have agreed to extend Tommy Williams' loan spell from Bristol City by a second month. The full-back was originally drafted in as cover for the injured Marc Tierney and his initial spell expires after Tuesday's clash with Leyton Orient. But some impressive displays, not least when he hit his first goal in six years with a 30-yard free-kick against Bournemouth on Saturday, have persuaded Us boss John Ward to keep him on despite Tierney's return to fitness. "Tom has been a good addition to the squad in his time with us so far," Ward told the club's official website. "He provided good cover while Marc has been out with injury and I still feel he has a role to play with Marc back to fitness."
