Gary Johnson admitted that City had not performed as well as they had done in their previous eight or nine games in the defeat at Doncaster Rovers.

Paul Heffernan scored the only goal for the hosts just four minutes into the match at The Keepmoat Stadium on Tuesday evening.

"We didn't start well. We didn't have a good middle and we didn't have a good end either," the City boss admitted after the 1-0 defeat.

"I thought that they started off quite brightly and we were still on the coach which was disappointing.

"Once they had scored their goal they had a bit more power to their elbow and we had to change our game slightly to try and get about them.

"On the day we didn't show the quality we've been showing for the last eight or nine games and that's why we got beat."
