Johnson was still undecided on Friday as to who would start in goal against Coventry and eventually choosing Adriano Basso the manager confirmed that will mean that Chris Weale will start the Carling Cup tie at Gresty Road on Tuesday.
Weale started against Derby following Basso's thigh injury but was dropped to the bench after last season's player of the year returned to full fitness. Johnson praised Basso on his return saying: "I had a meeting with Chris and Adriano on Friday and told them they will both have to be ready. I have to manage them carefully."
"If one of them is injured then I need the other to be fit and raring to go, and they know that. Adriano was fantastic today and made some great saves but it's a day by day decision and we'll look at it again after Crewe."
