The summer signing from Gillingham has been out since suffering the injury on a pre-season tour of Ireland, but came through 90 minutes of a reserve match unscathed on Monday.

And boss Mick McCarthy told the Express and Star: "Matt Jarvis is getting to the point where he can be considered for a start."

Darron Gibson is also battling to be fit for the clash with the Robins after missing last weekend's defeat to Ipswich.

The on-loan Manchester United midfielder was forced off during the win at Cardiff with a slight tear to his groin.

Jody Craddock (ankle), Gary Breen (knee) and Stephen Elliott (hamstring) are all injury concerns.

Midfielder David Noble will travel as part of Bristol City's squad despite spending most of the week struck down by illness.

Noble has recovered from the calf injury that forced him off against Stoke last weekend but he has since been suffering from a sickness bug.

And Robins boss Gary Johnson said: "When we travel up on Friday, Noble will be part of the squad. We will keep assessing things and pick a team closer to the day of the game."

Johnson also revealed that young defender Christian Ribeiro will be part of the squad at Molineux.

The City boss added: "He is playing very well for our second first-team in recent weeks and he is very close."
