The Midfielder, 18, was due to extend his month-long stay at Ashton Gate but has returned to Birmingham to be nearer his family.
"Nick was close to his grandfather and wants to be back home so he can help his mum, through their loss," City boss Gary Johnson told the club's website.
"We had talked about extending the loan, but the situation has changed."
