Bristol City manager Danny Wilson refused to panic after watching his side again fail to find the back of the net in a disappointing 0-0 draw on the South Coast at Bournemouth.

Wilson's side started the season in explosive fashion demolishing Notts County 5-0 on the opening day before then putting four past Swansea in the Carling Cup three days later.

But City, one of the pre-season favourites for automatic promotion, have struggled in front of goal over the last month scoring just four goals in their last five league games.

The visitors struggled to find a way through a well organised Bournemouth defence as they were forced to settle for their fourth draw of the campaign.

But Wilson said: "I'm not worried about how many goals we score.

"Perhaps we were spoiled on the opening day of the season and I didn't expect five goals but the important thing is to make sure we make ourselves difficult to beat.

"It's going to be a long hard season but if we can pick up some points away from home then our home form will carry us through.

"It's a very difficult division and even tighter than last year but I feel we are making progress away from home."In a game of few chances, Bournemouth midfielder Stephen Purches went close to providing the breakthrough eight minutes before the half-time interval.

Purches was put through by a delightful ball from midfield colleague Wade Elliott and let fly first time with a rasping right foot shot but goalkeeper Steve Phillips showed instinctive reflexes to tip his effort over for a corner.

Bournemouth striker Steve Fletcher wasted a free heading opportunity a minute later while he also went close eight minutes from time with a header onto the roof of the net.

But it was City who looked the more dangerous side in the second half and who could have clinched their first away win of the season had they shown more composure in front of goal.

Christian Roberts glanced a header wide from eight yards within seconds of the re-start while midfielder Luke Wilkshire completely missed his kick in the 72nd minute with the goal at his mercy.

Roberts' strike partner Lee Peacock was well marshalled by Bournemouth captain Carl Fletcher throughout the 90 minutes being restricted to just one chance.

That came in the 78th minute when he finally shrugged off the attentions of Carl Fletcher to find space in the penalty area but directed his header from 10 yards wide of the left hand upright with goalkeeper Neil Moss stranded.
