Arsenal to Recall Eddie Nketiah From Leeds United Ahead of Second Loan Spell in January

Arsenal are set to recall Leeds United loanee Eddie Nketiah during the January transfer window, before sending the 20-year-old back out on loan for the remainder of the season.

Nketiah has impressed since moving to Elland Road during the summer, but manager Marcelo Bielsa has prioritised playing former Chelsea striker Patrick Bamford ahead of him as Leeds look for promotion back into the Premier League.

Arsenal are desperate for Nketiah to get game time as they view him as a potential first-team player for next season, so The Mirror reports that the England Under-21 international will be recalled in the new year before being sent back out on loan.

Leeds United had hoped to keep Nketiah for their promotion push, and chief executive Angus Kinnear said: "I appreciate much speculation still surrounds the future of Eddie Nketiah and although Arsenal have the right to recall him in January, we still believe he can make a huge impact over the remainder of the season at Leeds United."

But Arsenal want Nketiah to get regular game time and it appears that they've already found another club for the young striker elsewhere in the Championship.

According to BristolLiveLee Johnson's Bristol City are primed to land Nketiah on loan for the remainder of the season as the Robbins look to make a late push for promotion through the play-offs.

The Championship club have already proved their worth when it comes to taking Premier League strikers on loan, having helped to develop Chelsea's Tammy Abraham during the 2016/17 season - he scored 26 goals for Bristol City.

The club actually pitched to take Nketiah on loan during the summer transfer window, but at the time Arsenal felt a year working under Bielsa at Leeds United would be more beneficial to his development this season.
