"I didn't feel I was given a fair crack of the whip last season and wasn't sure I would be made an offer," he said.
"Danny Wilson wanted to keep me before he left and Brian Tinnion indicated there would be a contract for me.
"This will be my eighth season at the club and I never wanted to leave. Hopefully, there is a longer-term future for me here."
