Richard Keogh is set to return from illness but Liam Fontaine will miss out once more with the foot injury he suffered against Cheltenham.
Port Vale have an injury doubt over left-back Colin Miles (calf), but he has returned to training and should be able to play at Ashton Gate.
Jason Talbot (rib) has also returned to training but is unlikely to feature.
