CITY 1 Luton Town 2

No Steve Howard for Luton. Can City take advantage? Steve Brooker plays despite a broken toe. Danny Coles comes back from suspension but has to settle for a place on the bench as Jamie Smith is retained at right back.

City kick off attacking the WedlockStand end. No real chances in the first ten minutes. Lita almost clean through but Brookerss ball bounces up and Luton get back to clear. Dinning has a shot from 35 yards drifts wide. City appearing dominant though, Mike Newell having already said that he would settle for a point.

A Brooker header leads to the first corner of the game. A Lita diving header goes wide. Rowan Vine puts the ball in the City net but play had already been stopped for an earlier foul by the Luton man. Tony Dinning is booked as Rowan Vine breaks clear again. Steve Phillips claims the fre kick well as it loops up off the City wall.

Berresford saves well from a Mickey Bell cross with Lita and Doherty closing in. Steve Phillips saves comfortably from Underwood. A cross from Underwood is headed back across goal and into the net by Chris Coyne

0-1 (Coyne 34 mins)

Steve Brooker is booked for a foul on goalscorer Coyne. It is his fifth booking and he will miss the Boxing Day game at Stockport. Underwood goes down in the box but only a corner is given. Phillips punches clear well. Luke Wilkshire hits the side netting from distance. Murray just fails to get to a through ball from Dinning but Beresford gets there first.

A strangely uneventful first half ends with Luton having a one goal advantage.

HT 1-1

Showumni challenges Phillips and wins a corner perhaps unfairly? Steve Phillips throughs himself at the feet of a Luton player to save well. Brian Tinnion, Paul Heffernan and Danny Coles all appear to be getting ready to come on early in the second half. The three men coming off are Tony Dinning, Steve Brooker (booed because City fans feel Lita should come off?) and Jamie Smith. All are straight swaps. Luton put together a nice move which Phillips saves.

A Mickey Bell free kick is saved by Beresford. Heffernan has an effort over the bar. Marlon Beresford saves brilliantly from Leroy Lita. The Atyeo stand appeal for hand ball, nothing given. Scott Murray is pulled back and Davies is booked. Brian Tinnion crosses for Leroy Lita to score with an overhead kick!!

1-1 (Lita 66 mins)

Underwood has a shot when clean through which goes wide with Phillips scrambling to his left. The crowd is announced as 13,414 with just under 800 from Luton. A good run from Lita releases Wilkshire on the left. He is challenged hard but retaliates and is booked. Wilkshire shoots straight at Beresford from distance.

Rowan Vine is booked for whinging. Scott Murray fouls Sol Davis and concedes a free kick on the edge of the box. Steve Phillips saves Brkovic's effort. Tommy Doherty is booked for a challenge on a Luton player. Luton appear to be wanting to waste a lot of time. With 90 seconds left Matt Hill deflects a Showmni shot into his own goal.

1-2 (Showunmi 89 mins)

Murray has a left fotted shot wide and 3 minutes of added time will be added. A lita shot deflects to Murray who goes down in the box but nothing given. The full time whistle goes and Luton have fluked yet another win that they scarcely deserve.

FT 1-2
