City invited to Southend promotion party

Last updated : 06 May 2006 By Morris (Bristol)
City face promoted Southend this afternoon at Roots Hall. It's the final game of the season and one Southend need to win to guarantee the League 1 title. They are promoted already and will celebrate in front of their home fans for the first time since securing promotion at Swansea last week.

City still have a mathematical chance of the play offs but have to overturn a difference of 14 goals. It's not going to happen.

So that's it for this season. Go out today and spoil Southend's title celebrations and look to end the season on a high.

Southend are still without Spencer Prior (knee ligament), Efe Sodje (fractured fibula) and Bart Griemink (knee), but have no new injuries.

One player almost certain to start will be striker Shaun Goater who is bringing the curtain down on his career.

Bristol City boss Gary Johnson could hand young forward Jennison Williams his first-team debut.

Winger Scott Murray is back in light training after a knee ligament injury but is unlikely to feature.
