CREWE boss Steve Holland has dscribed his side as 'completely ready' to be put to the test by Bristol City in the Carling Cup.

The two sides face off in the second round tonight with Nicky Maynard likely to make a return to his former club, however the striker is not the only one with connections to the League One side. Holland first met Gary Johnson during his pro-license course training and described the former Yeovil boss as a 'born winner'.

Holland also admits he is under no illusions that City will play a weakened side and having watched them beat Coventry 3-0 at the Ricoh, the Alex boss admits he is well aware what to expect. He told the club's official website: "I've said all along that I want to make progress in this competiton. We are playing a very good side, one on form and possibly the best side outside the Premiership after just missing out on promotion."

"There are one or two details we have to look at because they are a very good side who had a teriffic result on Saturday."

On City's manager Gary Johnson he said: "I was on the same pro-license course as Gary and have a lot of time and respect for him. From watching him at close quarters I don't think he is the type of man to become complacent and put out under strength teams."
