Doncaster Rovers 1 CITY 1

"If you're supporting the Rovers let's here you say Yay." Silence. The teams are out and we're off. Doncaster unbeaten at home. Will this be a test? City kick off.

Booker has a shot from 30 yards blocked. City win a free kick on the edge of the box which Mickey Bell hits into the wall. Simon Johnson (a loan signing from Leeds United) has a ggod run into the Bristol City penalty area and wins the first corner of the game for Doncaster.

Michael McIndoe has a 30 yard shot blocked and then Simon Johnson goes down under a challenge in the box by Matty Hill, but nothing is given. Should it have been a penalty? Paul Green shoots narrowly wide as City are under early pressure. City go up the other end and Leroy Lita wins a corner. It comes to nothing and Doncaster break quickly, Michael McIndoe shoots wide from 25 yards.

Port Vale have taken the lead at home against Tranmere, Bradford are also a goal down at Bournemouth. Phillips punches a corner clear well and then does well to hang on to a cross on the edge of his six yard box. Tommy Doherty has taken a knock but carries on. Tranmere are now 2-0 down at Port Vale and Bradford 2-0 down at Bournemouth.

Michael McIndoe has a 30 yard shot which goes close as Doncaster are dominating in midfield. Tommy Doherty may well need to come off injured. Leroy Lita crosses well and Doncaster just manage to clear their lines. Bottom club Stockport are 1-0 up at Wrexham.

Steve Brooker brings the ball down well in the penalty area but cannot get a shot in. A good five minute spell of possession sees City gain a bit of a foothold in a match that Doncaster have dominated so far. Lita, Wilkshire and Bell combine well but with a chance to shoot Mickey Bell crosses the ball over the bar. City seem to be struggling on a slippery wet surface. Simon Johnson is impressing on his debut for Doncaster.

Jamie Smith has a shot blocked. A cross from a free kick and Neil Roberts who scored for Bradford against City does it again.

1-0 (34mins)

Tim Ryan shoots over from distance. City break but Leroy Lita is being double marked, unlike Neil Roberts who scored with a free header as City yet again fail to defend a set piece. A good move by City breaks down on the edge of the box as Brooker fails to find Lita. Hartlepool take the lead at Walsall, and also take over in 6th place from City. Luton are a goal dowwn at Brentford.

Good work from City leads to a brave save at the feet of Steve Brooker by Andy Warrington. Mickey Bells shot is blocked and Warrington just gets to the loose ball ahead of Scott Murray. Luke Wilkshire crosses for Steve Brooker to SCORE!! on the stroke of half time.

1-1 (45 mins)

Half Time City are fortunate to go in level and maybe need a change of studs. The Donny fans chant about how fit the referee is. The Gas have also scored on the stroke of half time and lead 2-1. The impression at half time is that City will do well to get a point out of this one having scored with their only shot on target.

HT 1-1

McIndoe heads over the bar from a free kick when allowed free in the box. This is definitely a weakness for City. Tommy Doherty is fouled but still is okay to continue after his early knock. A good break by Gregg Blundell but his pass lets him down. Scott Murray breaks well but his cross is easily cleared. An end to end start to the second half.

Butler challenges Neil Roberts from behind and gets booked. City seem more fired up for the second half. Another Murray cross is put behind for a corner. Freom the corner Warrington saves comfortably from a Brooker header. Nick Fenton of Doncaster is booked for pulling Leroy Lita back.

Mickey Bell is booked for a body check on a Doncaster player. Luke Wilkshire is replaced by Kevin Amankwaah. Another free header from Doncaster, this time by David Morley, goes over. Scott Murray skins the Doncaster defence and hits the post. Tranmere are now 3-0 down at Port Vale. Luton are 2-0 down at Brentford.

John Doolan comes on for Ricky Ravenhill for Doncaster. Neil Roberts breaks clear in the box and goes down under challenge from Tony Butler but no penalty. Michael McIndoe turns well and shoots just over. Jamie Smith clears well as Doncaster assert themselves. Paul Green shoots over from distance. City have a chance to calm things down witn the goal kick. Scott Murray has switched to Luke Wilkshires left wing with Amankwaah on the right.

Scott Brown comes on for the last ten minutes in place of a surprised Scott Murray who seemed to be having a good second half. The Gas are now 4-1 up against Chester whose depleted side was going to be boosted by a first appearance by Ian Rush but he obviously decided against it. The game seems to have lost it's fizz. Are both sides happy with a point?

Another Doncaster player goes down in the box but a corner is given as a third penalty shout is turned down. A great ball from Doherty to Lita who spins well but no one is in the box to meet his cross. A Mickey Bell free kick leads to a mass scramble in the Doncaster box which is tipped over by Warrington. From the corner a Brooker shot from two yards out is somehow saved by Warrington. Donny break and Phillips saves well and another shot flashes wide as the game springs back into life.

Tommy Doherty is replaced by Bradley Orr, Gregg Blundell is replaced by former gashead Guy Ipoua. Doncaster force a corner which City struggle to clear. Scott Brown is booked for a late challenge. 3 minutes of injury time to play. City hanging on a bit but break clear with Brown and Dinning. The referee bizarely gives Doncaster a corner on advise from his assistant who is further away from the ball, it comes to nothing.

The full time whistle goes and a pulsating half comes to an end. City have battled well for there point and look to have clung on to 6th place in the table with the leading two well beaten. City's next opponents Blackpool have thumped Torquay 4-0. Hull could go 2nd by beating Sheffield Wednesday tomorrow night and keeping them off our backs. The Swindlers play Huddersfield but will have to win by 6 goals to stand a chance of going 6th.
