"We weren't going to use the number of games we have played as an excuse before the match so it's best we don't make to much of it now.

"It wasn't a great display, but sometimes the result is everything. Over a season you are going to get good wins and not so good ones. When we saw the other results it put a smile on our faces.

"We could have been behind at half-time and I wasn't seeing the amount of fight from the players I wanted.

"When Enoch Showunmi was injured it might or might not have been deliberate by the Carlisle player. But I used it to try and get our lads going.

"To be fair they responded to what was said at half-time and deserved something out of the game in the end."


Carlisle manager Neil McDonald.

"We certainly weren't beaten by the better side, but we sat back too much in the second half."

"We had a lapse of concentration and we've been punished. It's hugely disappointing."
