Gary's comments after City beat Port Vale

"It was a good three points. The match was never going to be a classic, with the pitch, rain and swirling wind all making it difficult for both sets of players.

"We had a few good chances in the first half and in those conditions you really need to take them. So at half-time we just said we needed a bit of quality to get a goal for us.

"Our two bits of quality in the second half earned us our goals and I think, going on chances created, nobody can deny we deserved to win the game.

"Now if we can get another win on New Year's Day at Orient we will have taken eight points over this period, and that's the two points a game target.
