Jamie Smith - Eagle To Please

This could be another shrewd signing by the Tinman. Jamie Smith moved to Palace from Wolves and seemed to have what looked to be a promising career, slowed down by injury. Now that they have reached the premiership Smith is no longer part of Iain Dowies plans and has been released by the club despite regaining full fitness. Let's hope he makes City the complete article.

Crystal Palace fansite The Holmesdale Online has the following to say about Smith.....

"Former Palace defender Jamie Smith has gone on trial at League One side Bristol City.
Smith, 29, was released by Palace, along with Curtis Flemming, at the end of last season after his contract ended.
The right-back only managed 20 appearances in the last two seasons due to injury, but is fit again and keen to earn a contract at the Robins.
Bristol City boss Brian Tinnion told bcfc.co.uk: "We're giving Jamie the chance to fill the right-back role that has been a bit of a problem in recent games.
"He has played at a high level for the majority of his career and we're just going to have a look at him. He will start the game against Forest Green on Tuesday."
Smith made 176 appearances and netted seven goals for the Eagles since signing from Wolves as part of the deal which took Dougie Freedman the other way in 1997."

Meanwhile Kevin Barralon has joined on trial having been released by French 2nd Division side Nimes. He was on trial at Gillingham recently and their Rivals site GillsConnect.com had the following encouraging words to say about him.

"All eyes were on Iwan Roberts for his first appearance in a Gills shirt but it was trialist Kevin Barralon who stole the show with pace, creativity and an eye for goal on his introduction at half-time."
