A late goal by Paul Heffernan saw City past Kidderminster Harriers.

This report was unashamedly nicked from The Kiddy official site. It is remarkably positive about City. Their biggest plus point was the performance of their goalkeeper.....

HARRIERS BEATEN BY LATE BRISTOL STRIKE

Harriers 0 - 1 Bristol City

AN 84th minute strike from Bristol City substitute Paul Heffernan was enough separate Kidderminster Harriers and their League One opponents in tonight's pre-season friendly at Aggborough.

The £150,000 summer signing from Notts County found himself unmarked inside the Harriers penalty to guide a neat header past Danby from Bradley Orr's pin-point cross.

Harriers boss Jan Molby sent out his new-look with a number on players making their first competitive appearance of the season. Summer signing Reuben Hazell sat out the game as a precaution with slight knee tweak.

John DanbyIt was the visitors who created all the early goal opportunities, John Danby (right) doing well to save at the feet of Alun Armstrong inside the opening five minutes.

Danby pulled off another tremendous save on 17 minutes when he diverted Brian Tinnion's drive over the crossbar.

Scott Murray wasted two good opportunities to open the scoring soon after, dragging his shot wide of the mark on the first occasion before striking the foot of the post moments later.

Jesper Christiansen went close for Harriers on 34 minutes when his engineered neat turn and shot was narrowly deflected wide of the goal.

With both sides making a number of substitutions in the second half, the game gradually became a disjointed affair as many players understandably showed lack of match fitness.

The Robins found themselves constantly denied by the ever-improving Danby in the home goal whilst, at the other end, a neat jinking run by Harriers trialist Rob O'Brien almost resulted in the former Leeds youngster creating an excellent chance for himself. Only a last-ditch tackle denied the nippy winger.

However the game was settled six minutes from time when Heffernan scored the winner.
