Lee Matthews In action
In form striker Lee Matthews today told the club official site that he will not be back from injury until Mid November. This is a big blow for both Lee and the club as Lee was in a rich vain of form after a number of good performances including a great goal against Cheltenham.

Matthews joined in May 2001 from Leeds United but has rarely featured since then due to injury. The new injury will be another set back and will add to his frustration as he just seemed to be getting into the team after his goal at Cheltenham. But this is something we have come to expect with Matthews as the same thing has happened on number of occasions already in his City career;

  • Scores on debut against Millwall and then again against Reading and Peterborough but then picks up an injury which sees him out for Pre Season

  • After a long lay off he returns in the LDV vans trophy semi final against Bristol Rovers and scores two great goals but then pick up another long term injury

  • Returns to the team and put in a great performance and scores a great free kick against Cheltenham two games later pick up injury

A pattern seem to appearing here and I think Matthews has the ability to become a quality player in this division but his injury record seems to play against him and if he cannot beat him then city should look to sale him as there's no point in having a player on our books who spend 80% time injured!
