Louis Carey sent to Coventry

Louis left today and many City fans got the news at about 7pm via the clubs SMS text messaging service. The Bristolian thought to be likely to surpass even Tinnions appearances in the side has decided that he can step up to a higher level and be better rewarded for it. A personal opinion is that he will be missed. He linked up well down the right with Scott Murray and showed the ability to get forward well in support of the front men when Scott went on his holidays to Reading. He was also a useful deputy at centre back. Perhaps sluggish at times, he was dependable and, I thought, destined to finish his career with City.

The same can be said of Matty Hill on the left. There is silence from the club as to the progress of his contract negotiations. If he goes too we are suddenly lacking in experience at the back. This seems strange when Carey is only 27 and Hill is only 23 but Sekani Simpson and Ryan Harley are being named as possible replacements and they are only 20 and 19 respectively.

From the defensive final year of the Wilson era, are we leaning a bit to far forwards and neglecting our rearguard? I will miss Louis Carey and expect any return he makes to Ashton Gate to be met with a warm welcome from City fans. Put your thoughts on the messageboard.
