Managers comments after City's super win at Vale

"The mentality and the willpower of the lads was excellent throughout the 90 minutes and that is what you have to do if you want consistency.

"We defended well as a team and attacked well as a team and every one of the players stayed tuned in.

"It was a great bit of skill by Scott for his goal. He ran his little heart out and that's three goals in five games for him, which has been a real boost.

"Vale did have a go at us in the second half but we got players behind the ball, remained resolute and caused them a lot of problems with our pace going forward."

"It was extremely poor and we were off the tempo for much of the game. We had talked about being positive and getting in their faces but it just didn't happen.

"It was a very static performance and I could have substituted any of the players in the second half. No one can complain if I make changes against Nottingham Forest on Tuesday because no-one has played well."
