SHEFFIELD UNITED have today completed the signing of Barnsley midfielder Brian Howard who will go straight into their squad to face Bristol City.

The Tykes midfielder has been part of an on-going transfer saga since August with the ambitious player hoping to leave Oakwell before the transfer window closed. Barnsley were at the time unwilling to sell one of their most valuable assets but it seems that Howard will now be allowed to fulfill his team of playing at a higher level.

The 25-year-old winger was inspirational as the Yorkshire club reached the FA Cup final and Howard was the 5th round hero scoring the winner at Anfield in a 2-1 victory.

A statement from the club said the deal would be worth £500,000 in full when the transfer becomes permanent, with £200,000 to be paid up front.

Howard is to link up with his team mates this morning as the train for the match at Bramall Lane against Bristol City tomorrow.
